19 Passengers Detained Over Alleged Gold Smuggling at KKS Port Jaffna
Sri Lanka Customs officials have detained 19 passengers at the Kankesanthurai (KKS) Harbour on suspicion of attempting to smuggle gold to India.
The passengers were stopped by Customs officers yesterday while preparing to travel to Nagapattinam from Kankesanthurai.
According to reports, all 19 individuals detained are Indian nationals.
During the initial inspection, Customs officials reportedly discovered that seven of the passengers were allegedly attempting to smuggle gold. Further investigations are currently underway.
