Four members of a single family who had been living as refugees in Tamil Nadu, India, have reportedly returned to Sri Lanka by sea.
According to reports, the family voluntarily surrendered themselves to the Pesalai Police in Mannar upon their arrival.
The returnees, originally from Mannar, had fled Sri Lanka by boat during the civil war and had been residing in a refugee camp in Tamil Nadu for several years. They stated that they decided to return after hearing that normal life had resumed in Sri Lanka.
They departed Tamil Nadu by boat two nights ago and arrived in Sri Lankan waters off Pesalai. Following their surrender, the four individuals were released on bail.
