A Sri Lankan Suspect wanted by French security authorities over a serious criminal offence has been arrested in Switzerland, according to reports.
The suspect had been under investigation and wanted by police in France following allegations linked to an illegal activity or criminal offence committed there.
After reportedly learning that he was being sought by French authorities, the individual fled France and went into hiding in Switzerland.
Based on security coordination and shared intelligence among European countries, Swiss police were able to locate his hideout and arrest him.
Legal procedures are currently underway to extradite the suspect to France. Under the Schengen Agreement, the transfer of suspects between European countries is generally carried out swiftly.
Authorities stated that full details regarding the suspect’s identity and the exact charges against him have not yet been disclosed for security reasons.
