Fifty families, comprising 122 people, have been relocated to Iluppaikkadavai Tamil Mixed School due to persistent heavy rain in Mannar District, said N. Sooriyarajah, Assistant Director of the Mannar District Disaster Management Centre.
Those affected are from the Koorai and Seethuvai Vinayagar Kulam areas, he said.
With further rainfall likely to worsen the situation, arrangements have been made to provide cooked meals to people staying at the temporary shelters, Mr. Sooriyarajah added.
