Jaffna District Special Transport Coordination Meeting

The Jaffna District Special Transport Coordination Committee meeting was held today under the patronage of Minister of Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation Bimal Rathnayake.

The meeting focused on transport-related challenges faced in the Jaffna District, along with solutions and future development plans. Attention was drawn to road development requirements, the need for improved public transport facilities in certain areas, and the importance of ensuring safe sea transport for island communities.

In addition, matters related to public and commercial transport linking Jaffna with the rest of the country, as well as market-related transportation activities, were also addressed in detail.

Northern Province Governor N.A. Vethanayahan, District Secretary M. Pradeeban, National People’s Power parliamentarians for Jaffna, ITAK Parliamentary Group Leader S. Shritharan, representatives of local government bodies in the district, transport officials and security authorities also took part in the discussions.
