Left Parties Extend Support to TVK; Vijay Nears Majority to Form Government in Tamil Nadu

The political momentum behind Vijay and his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has strengthened further after both the Communist Party of India (CPI) and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M) announced their support for a TVK-led government in Tamil Nadu.
According to Indian media reports, the CPI held consultations earlier today before officially declaring its unconditional support to TVK. The party also handed over a formal letter of support to TVK MLA CTR Nirmalkumar through CPI State Secretary M. Veerapandian.
Following the CPI’s announcement, the CPI(M) also declared its support for TVK and reportedly submitted its own letter of support.
With the backing of the Left parties, TVK’s support in the Assembly has now reportedly increased to 116 members. As a result, the party now requires the support of only two more legislators to reach the majority required to form the government.
In this backdrop, the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), which holds two Assembly seats, is expected to announce its decision later this evening. Political observers note that VCK’s stance could prove decisive in enabling TVK to cross the majority threshold.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that Vijay is expected to personally visit the CPI office in T. Nagar, Chennai, to thank party leaders for their support. He is also expected to visit the CPI(M) office afterward to express his gratitude.
With support continuing to grow, expectations are rising that Vijay could soon be sworn in as the next Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
