The Canada–Sri Lanka Chamber of Commerce has announced that it will once again host a special awards program this year to recognize and encourage entrepreneurs across multiple sectors.
According to the chamber’s awards organizing committee, the event is scheduled to take place on May 22 at the J Guest House in Jaffna.
The awards aim to identify and honor entrepreneurs engaged in various economic sectors including trade, agriculture, fisheries, and tourism. Last year, the program covered entrepreneurs from Jaffna, Batticaloa, and Trincomalee. However, this year the initiative has been expanded to include more districts such as Mannar and Puttalam.
The organizers emphasized that special attention will be given to recognizing the achievements and talents of women entrepreneurs. Producers and tourism-related entrepreneurs will also receive significant consideration.
Small and medium-scale entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to participate and showcase their businesses to a wider, global audience through this platform.
Applicants are required to submit their completed applications with proper verification through the Governor, District Secretary, or Divisional Secretary starting from February 20. The deadline for applications is March 31.
The awards ceremony will be held on May 22. Entrepreneurs from all levels are eligible to apply, and application forms can be obtained free of charge from Divisional Secretariats.
In 2025, a total of 20 entrepreneurs received awards. This year, the program has been expanded, with approximately 25 to 30 entrepreneurs expected to be honored.
