The Governor of the Northern Province, N. Vethanayagan, has appointed Mrs. Sivachelvan Sivaranjini as the Acting Commissioner of the Vavuniya Municipal Council.
The official letter of appointment was ceremonially handed over by the Governor at an event held this morning (Thursday, 19.02.2026) at the Governor’s Secretariat. The appointment takes effect from today.
Mrs. Sivaranjini, who will assume duties as Acting Commissioner of the Vavuniya Municipal Council, previously served as the Assistant Commissioner of the Department of Labour in Vavuniya District.
The event was attended by the Secretary to the Governor of the Northern Province, S. Sathiyaseelan, and the Secretary to the Northern Province Ministry of Local Government, A. Sothinathan.
