515 Human Skeletal Remains Identified at Chemmani Mass Grave

Excavation work at the Chemmani mass grave in Jaffna crossed the 100-day mark, with the 101st day of excavation carried out yesterday (Aug 8,).

A total of 515 human skeletal remains have so far been identified during the 101 days of excavation, of which 506 have been exhumed.

The court has granted permission for 56 days of excavation during the third phase at the Chemmani site. On the 47th day of the current phase, eight additional skeletal remains were identified, while five previously identified remains were exhumed.

Meanwhile, human skeletal remains were also identified in one of two randomly excavated test pits at the site.
