The ferry service between Kankesanthurai(KKS) in Jaffna and Nagapattinam in India resumed operations today (March 6).

The service had been suspended throughout November 2025 due to seasonal weather changes. Although it was initially planned to restart the ferry service during the first week of December, the resumption was repeatedly delayed due to adverse weather conditions and the impact of Cyclone Ditva.

With weather conditions now returning to normal, the ferry service officially resumed today, March 6.

Accordingly, the ferry departed from Nagapattinam Port this morning, with the service ceremonially inaugurated by Sundararajan, Director of the Subam Shipping Company.

The vessel arrived at Kankesanthurai Port at around 1:30 p.m., carrying 77 passengers. It departed again from Kankesanthurai at approximately 3:00 p.m., heading to Nagapattinam with 92 passengers on board.

The ferry service is scheduled to operate six days a week in both directions, except on Tuesdays.
