Fisheries Minister and Jaffna District Development Coordination Committee Chairman Ramalingam Chandrasegar has vowed that the government will not allow anyone to disrupt the peaceful lives of the people in the Northern Province.

He emphasized that loan sharks and drug traffickers who exploit the public will be arrested and brought before the law.

Speaking further, the minister said that past governments created conditions that disturbed the peace and stability of the country, but the people have now given a strong mandate to the National People’s Power (NPP) to build a just and prosperous nation. He added that Tamil-speaking communities, particularly in the North, had shown significant trust in the NPP government.

Minister Chandrasegar highlighted that President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has launched a National Action Plan to eliminate drug networks and safeguard the younger generation. He noted that major arrests have already been made in the South and even abroad, and similar efforts are now being intensified in the Northern Province.

The government has begun a systematic campaign to eradicate drug abuse and illegal money lending in the North. Chandrasekaran further stated that even politicians connected to these criminal networks will not be spared, reaffirming that no one involved in drug trafficking or exploitation will escape the law.
