Mobile Planetarium Opens in Jaffna to Inspire Science Learning

A state-of-the-art mobile planetarium has been opened at the Jaffna Technical College grounds, offering visitors an immersive journey through space in a fully air-conditioned environment.

The exhibition is designed to provide a realistic experience of planets, stars, and other celestial objects, allowing visitors to explore the wonders of the universe in an engaging and educational way. Organizers say the interactive experience aims to enhance students’ understanding of science while making astronomy more accessible and exciting.

The exhibition is open not only to school students but also to the general public.

The mobile planetarium will operate until August 9, with public sessions scheduled from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. each day.

As the programme has been approved by the Provincial Ministry of Education, schools can arrange visits by making advance bookings and attending during their allocated time slots.
