MP Dr.S. Sribhavanandaraja Appointed as Jaffna District Health Coordination Officer

Member of Parliament Dr.S. Sribhavanandarasja (MBBS) has been appointed as the District Health Coordination Officer for the Jaffna District.

The appointment was made by Health and Mass Media Minister Nalinda Jayatissa in accordance with a Cabinet decision.

According to the Ministry of Health and Mass Media, the primary objective of this new mechanism is to improve the quality of healthcare services and ensure a more efficient delivery of services to the public.

The initiative also aims to address the existing coordination gaps between the central government and healthcare institutions operating under the control of Provincial Councils, thereby strengthening the overall efficiency of the health sector.

The Ministry further noted that under the previous system, practical challenges had arisen in properly identifying local-level health issues and integrating them into national-level planning processes.

Specific duties and responsibilities have also been proposed for the newly appointed district coordination officers as part of the programme.
