New Executive Committee Elected for Sri Lanka Working Journalists Association

A new executive committee has been elected for the Sri Lanka Working Journalists Association for the 2026–2027 term.

The election was held on the 28th at the Sri Lanka Press Institute, under its mediation, ensuring a transparent selection process.

According to the results, Ranga Bandaranayake has been elected as President for the next two years. Mithun Jayawardena was appointed as Secretary, while Subramaniam Nishanthan was elected as Treasurer.

Other key appointments include Santha Wijesuriya as National Organizer, Samanthi Upeksha Weerasekara as Vice President, Vindya Pathukkage as Assistant Secretary, and Dhammika de Silva as Assistant Treasurer.

The executive committee members elected are: Akhila Jayawardena, Uditha Gunawardena, H.M. Roka Nilukshi, Lakshman Muduthanthirige, Shiromi Ratnayake, Milroy Anthony, Duminda Sampath, Lasantha Rugunuge, Thambirasa Nadarasa, Malani Weerasinghe, Samara Vidanage, S. Renuka, Ajith Senaviratne, P.A.G. Saman Premaratne, Nishanthi Ranatunga, and A.F. Vaseem Hakkamat.

It is also noteworthy that Duminda Sampath served as President of the association over the past four years, with Ranga Bandaranayake as Secretary and Thambirasa Nadarasa as Treasurer during that period.
