Northern Province Senior DIG’s Vehicle Involved in Accident in Kilinochchi

An official vehicle transporting the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police for the Northern Province was involved in an accident today (August 1) in Kilinochchi after colliding with cattle.

The incident occurred near the 2nd milepost on the Paranthan-Mullai Road, within the Kilinochchi Police Division.

According to reports, the accident happened when stray cattle suddenly crossed the road, resulting in the Senior DIG’s vehicle hitting them. Two cows are reported to have died due to the collision.

The DIG was en route to the Dharmapuram Police Station to participate in the opening of a new office for Women and Children when the accident took place.

No injuries to the DIG or accompanying personnel have been reported. Authorities are continuing investigations into the incident.
