President Anura Vows Fair Probe into Chemmani Mass Graves
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake today affirmed that a fair and transparent investigation will be conducted into the human remains unearthed from the Chemmani mass graves in Jaffna.
He made this statement while addressing the public at a low-key event held in Mayiliddy, Jaffna to mark the expansion of the local fishing harbour.
The event was intentionally kept simple, avoiding any large-scale arrangements, a move that was reportedly welcomed by the local community.
The Chemmani mass graves have long been a subject of controversy and calls for justice. President Anura’s assurance comes as renewed attention is being drawn to the site following recent excavations.
