Private Tuition Classes Banned on Sundays for Students Below Grade 10
At a recent Vavuniya Divisional Coordinating Committee meeting chaired by State Minister Upali Samarasinghe, it was decided to grant holidays to private tuition centers on Sundays, considering religious classes held that day.
Vavuniya Divisional Secretary E. Prathapan highlighted the issue, and Vavuniya Mayor S. Kandipan confirmed that the Municipal Council has already passed a resolution banning private tuition for students below Grade 10 on Sundays within municipal limits.
Additionally, the Council mandated that tuition centers for students above Grade 10 must provide separate restrooms for girls and boys and ensure clean drinking water, with regular health inspections.
