School Sports coordinator Further Remanded for Abusing 16 Children in Kilinochchi

Kilinochchi, April 30 — A sports coordinator accused of sexually abusing 16 schoolboys has been further remanded by the Kilinochchi Magistrate’s Court.

The suspect, who works as a minor staff member and serves as a sports coordinator at a local school, is also said to be a coodinator of a MP Sivagnanam Sritharan. According to police investigations, the sports coordinator had lured boys aged between 10 and 13 under the pretense of providing sports training, and allegedly took them to restrooms where the abuse occurred.

Parents of the victims filed complaints with local police, leading to the suspect’s arrest. He was initially remanded and produced before the Kilinochchi Magistrate’s Court on April 28.

The court granted bail for four charges related to physically assaulting the children. However, for the remaining twelve charges of sexually abusing the children, the court ordered a further 14 days of remand
