Senior Professor T. Velnambi Appointed as New Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jaffna

Senior Professor T. Velnambi has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jaffna. He is set to officially assume duties from March 25, 2026.

Professor Velnambi is currently serving as the Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies at the University. In the recently held Vice-Chancellor election, he secured the highest number of points, emerging as the leading candidate. Notably, he had also been ranked among the top three candidates in the Vice-Chancellor elections on three previous occasions.

Professor Velnambi hails from Valikamam East, Puttur, marking a proud moment for his hometown as he takes on the prestigious leadership role at the University.
