Sri Lankan Migrant Worker Killed in Israel Accident

Arrangements have been made to repatriate the body of a Sri Lankan worker who died in a car accident in Israel, according to Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Israel, Nimal Bandara.

The deceased has been identified as 43-year-old Anthony Gnanapragasam from New Town, Mulleriyawa, Colombo. He had traveled to Israel in December 2024 to work in the construction sector and tragically lost his life in an accident yesterday.

Following a request from his family, his remains will be sent back to Sri Lanka. However, Christian religious rites and final respects will first be held on the 29th at a funeral home in Israel, the Ambassador informed Sri Lankans residing there.
