Viral Video Reportedly Prompts Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay’s Surprise Visit to Egmore Children’s Hospital
Chennai: A 35-second video that recently went viral on social media is being cited as the reason behind Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay’s surprise inspection of the Government Children’s Hospital in Egmore, Chennai.
In the widely shared video, a woman alleged that the hospital’s administration was inefficient and that cleanliness and basic facilities were inadequate. Addressing the Chief Minister directly, she appealed, saying, “CM Sir,” and urged him to take immediate action to improve conditions at the hospital.
According to reports, the Chief Minister visited the hospital without any prior announcement the very next day after the video gained widespread attention on social media.
During the surprise inspection, Vijay personally reviewed the hospital’s infrastructure, cleanliness, and the quality of services provided to patients. The visit has sparked considerable discussion, with many observers believing it reflects the Chief Minister’s hands-on approach to addressing public grievances.
Since assuming office, Chief Minister Vijay has instructed district ministers and local MLAs to respond immediately to public complaints and resolve issues without delay. However, in this instance, after attending his routine official duties at the Secretariat in the morning, he unexpectedly travelled to the Government Institute of Child Health and Hospital for Children in Egmore later in the day to conduct the inspection himself.
Sources indicate that the Chief Minister’s unannounced inspections have created a sense of urgency among officials and employees in various government departments, who are now expected to maintain higher standards of public service and preparedness.
