A Sri Lankan-origin student living in Sutton is close to winning a bet he made with a friend, to save £100,000 before taking a holiday. Now 21, Eromeo Quintus has already saved nearly £80,000 since making the wager at age 18.
Motivated by his working-class, immigrant background and a desire to give his parents a better life, Eromeo said his family first moved from Sri Lanka to Germany before settling in Sutton when he was 11. “Our parents didn’t have the same opportunities we now have, so we wanted to give them the life they deserve,” he explained.
To reach his savings goal, Eromeo has worked tirelessly, often juggling two jobs at once, mornings at Starbucks and evening shifts at Nando’s, while studying chemical engineering at university. Alongside his jobs, he has learned about investments, stocks, and forex trading, using compound interest to grow his savings.
He also launched a business, Branded Barber, aimed at helping high street barbers reclaim their community identity.
With his target in sight, Eromeo remains determined to hit £100,000 before finally rewarding himself and his friend with the long-awaited holiday.
