A former student of Skandavarodaya College, Chief Inspector Manoharan Goneswaran, has been appointed as the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Chavakachcheri Police Station in Jaffna.
CI Goneswaran, who has completed 35 years of service in the Sri Lanka Police, is recognized as one of the few Tamil-speaking senior officers serving in the Northern Province.
The lack of Tamil-speaking police officers in the region has long been a concern, as it often hinders effective communication between the police and the public, leading to misunderstandings and errors in complaint documentation.
The appointment of a Tamil officer to lead a police station in the Northern Province is therefore seen as a significant and positive development.
