Effective today (October 15, 2025), all non-Sri Lankan passport holders, living abroad must obtain an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before traveling to Sri Lanka.
Over the past few months, travelers were able to obtain a Visa on Arrival, allowing them to receive a 30-day entry permit upon arrival at the airport. However, starting October 15, travelers must apply online and receive ETA approval in advance before boarding their flight to Sri Lanka.
Those without prior ETA approval will be denied boarding by airlines due to visa requirements.
Travelers are advised to apply for ETA online before departure, as the approval is usually granted within a few hours.
