Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) Member of Parliament Sivagnanam Sritharan has alleged that the decision to remove him from the position of ITAK Parliamentary Group Leader was unjust, and accused the party’s administrators of acting in an authoritarian manner.
He made these remarks while participating in a political discussion programme on a private television channel today (Feb 8)
MP Sritharan also rejected allegations that he had voted eight times in favour of appointing individuals with military backgrounds to positions within the Parliamentary Constitutional Council. He stated that the accusation was false and challenged anyone to prove it, adding that he would be prepared to resign from his parliamentary seat if such claims were substantiated.
Furthermore, MP Sritharan claimed that conspiracies against him have been ongoing since he was elected as the leader of the Tamil Arasu Kachchi two years ago. He alleged that M.A Sumanthiran and MP Shanakkiyan have been working with individuals who filed legal action to block his leadership, and that despite sending evidence of these matters to the party leader, no independent inquiry has been conducted.
