Fair Probe Promised by NPP MP over Mullaitivu Youth’s Death

NPP’s Vanni District Member of Parliament, M. Jegatheeswaran, has stated that a fair investigation will be conducted into the incident in which a group of youths who entered the Muthaiyankattu Army Camp in Mullaitivu were allegedly assaulted, resulting in the death of one individual.

Speaking on the matter today (9), MP Jegatheeswaran said that the youths had been attacked inside the army camp, and one of those who fled later found dead.

He added that he had spoken over the phone with the victim’s families and listened to their accounts of the incident. He had also contacted the Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police for the Northern Province, the Senior Superintendent of Police in Mullaitivu, and the Divisional Secretary regarding the matter.

According to the police, investigations are being carried out in a fair manner. The MP further said he had informed senior government ministers about the incident, and they had assured their attention to the matter.

Jegatheeswaran stressed that the investigations should reveal the truth and ensure justice for the affected families.
