Ishara Sewwandi Link: Weapons Seized in Kilinochchi Raid

Colombo Crime Division officers have recovered two pistols and explosives hidden at the Kilinochchi residence of Anthonypillai Anandan, a suspect linked to the murder of organized crime leader “Gane Mulla Sanjeewa,” who was shot dead inside the Aluthkade court premises.

Anandan was arrested while staying in the Ogodapola area along the Colombo–Kandy road and is currently being interrogated under a 72-hour detention order. Based on information provided by the suspect, police discovered the firearms and explosives at his Kilinochchi home.

According to senior police sources, investigations have revealed that Anandan had allegedly arranged boats for several suspects connected to the Easter Sunday attacks of April 21, 2019, to flee the country by sea.

Further investigations have uncovered that he provided boat facilities to a suspect named Ishara Sewwandi to escape to India under the instructions of a person known as Ceylon Boy, identified as Mohamed Rizvi, who is currently residing abroad.

Police say further inquiries are underway to uncover the full network connected to the murder and smuggling operations.
