National Public Service Netball Championship Begins in Jaffna

National Public Service Netball Championship began today (Sep 16) at the Valarmathi Sports Club in Mattuvil, Jaffna.

A total of 20 teams representing various public-sector institutions across Sri Lanka are participating in the tournament, with both men’s and women’s teams taking part.

The tournament will continue until September 19, when the finals and the awards ceremony will be held.

Jaffna District Additional Secretary Kailasapillai Sivakaran attended the opening ceremony as the Chief Guest.

Special guests included Mrs. Rikshi Nanayakara, Chairperson of the Public Service Netball Championship; Manik Amarasekera of the Sri Lanka School Netball Association in the United Kingdom; Sathiyasothy, Divisional Secretary of Chavakachcheri; and representatives of the Northern Province Labour Office.

The championship brings together public-sector employees from across the country in a national-level sporting event aimed at promoting sportsmanship, teamwork and healthy competition among government employees.
