Parents Demand Immediate Tamil Teacher Appointment in Delft
Parents staged a protest yesterday afternoon (30 April) in front of Delft R.C. Girls’ College, demanding that the transfer of the Tamil language teacher be halted and a permanent teacher be appointed without delay.
According to the parents, the Tamil teacher for both Advanced Level and Ordinary Level classes had previously been shared between two schools—teaching two days at Delft R.C. Girls’ College and three days at Delft Maha Vidyalayam. However, the teacher has now been fully assigned to Delft Maha Vidyalayam for all five school days.
As a result, students of the girls’ college are facing serious difficulties, especially with examinations approaching, parents said. They expressed their concerns through a peaceful demonstration, urging authorities to reconsider the transfer and ensure that a qualified Tamil teacher is appointed immediately.
Parents also called on officials to urgently address the situation and safeguard their children’s education. They further stated that a formal petition has been submitted to the Northern Province Governor, the Secretary of the Provincial Ministry of Education, and the Provincial Director of Education regarding the issue.
