Residents Refuse Land Survey, Accuse Officials of Misleading Actions

Residents have stated that the cancellation of a recent land survey was unfairly blamed on their alleged lack of cooperation. According to them, the real issue lies in attempts to proceed with measurements that they believe are aimed at acquiring their lands without proper justification.

They further आरोप that the Chairman of the Valikamam North Pradeshiya Sabha acted “like a broker,” moving back and forth in an effort to push through the survey and mislead residents into accepting it.

The residents also pointed to the situation in Thaiyiddy, where an allegedly unauthorized Buddhist temple has been constructed. They noted that although the Pradeshiya Sabha, under the leadership of Chairman Sugirthan, had unanimously passed a resolution calling for the removal of the structure, no concrete action has been taken so far—either to remove it or to pursue legal proceedings.

Emphasizing their grievances, the affected residents said that only those who have lost their lands truly understand the pain and concern involved. They firmly stated that they will not cooperate with any land surveys that they believe are being carried out with the intention of seizing their properties.
