Opposition Raises Alarm Over Fresh Attacks in Sri Lanka’s Hill Country
Opposition parliamentarians have brought to the government’s urgent attention reports of renewed attacks in parts of Sri Lanka’s hill country, including Maskeliya and Nuwara Eliya.
Opposition MP Mano Ganesan stated on Facebook that he, along with MP Jeevan Thondaman and other opposition MPs, had raised the matter in Parliament as an emergency issue.
According to Mano Ganesan, parliamentary proceedings were temporarily interrupted following the intervention. He further said that Minister of Public Security and Law and Order Ananda Wijepala had assured Parliament that a response on the situation would be provided shortly.
