Maruthankerny Residents’ Issues Discussed at Public Meeting Led by Minister Chandrasekar
A public consultation meeting aimed at identifying practical solutions to the issues faced by residents of Maruthankerny was held today at the Maruthankerny Cultural Centre, Jaffna.
The meeting was attended by Minister Ramalingam Chandrasekar, Deputy Minister of Transport Prasanna Gunasena, and Member of Parliament Jayachandramoorthy Rajeevan, who listened directly to the concerns, suggestions, and needs of local residents.
A large number of people participated in the discussion, where key issues affecting daily life were raised. These included transportation services, basic infrastructure, livelihood challenges, ongoing development projects, and future priorities for the area. The representatives also discussed measures to accelerate the implementation of practical solutions to these concerns.
Speaking after the meeting, Minister Chandrasekar said that the National People’s Power (NPP) government’s vision of “A Prosperous Nation – A Beautiful Life” can only be achieved through active public participation and a democratic approach that values the voices of the people.
He emphasized that the government remains committed to a people-centered style of governance by engaging directly with communities, listening to their concerns firsthand, and delivering practical solutions. He added that the trust of the people is the government’s greatest strength and that improving the lives of citizens remains its primary political objective.
Minister Chandrasekar also expressed his appreciation to the National People’s Power organizers, volunteers, and party members who worked to successfully coordinate the event. He further thanked the residents of Maruthankerny for attending in large numbers and for openly sharing their views and expectations.
